Clinical Sciences
We conduct clinical trials with integrity and professionalism in compliance with ICH/GCP guidelines, providing continuous medical education, health care, HCT and family planning services to volunteers and communities where the Program conducts research.
Community & Advocacy
UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program works closely with different stakeholders both at national and grassroots level for effective involvement in HIV vaccine research and this department is at the heart of the above function
Laboratory Services
The program conducts laboratory tests and assays that measure the safety of HIV vaccines in clinical trials specifically biochemistry, hematology, CD4/CD8 and HIV tests. It also conducts assays to measure the immunogenicity of HIV vaccines in clinical trials, specifically Elispot and intracellular cytokine assays
Our Focus
The program’s focus is to identify opportunities and priorities for research towards finding vaccines for HIV and associated diseases and support through among other areas conducting clinical trials in fulfillment of the government of Uganda and IAVI’s partnership responsibilities within the fight against HIV
